We are all from the sea – we use its resources, play many roles in our lives. It is an ecosystem that is gradually deteriorating as a result of irresponsible exploitation. We owe too much to the sea not to take responsibility for its condition.

Ghost nets pose a serious threat to organisms inhabiting the Baltic Sea. Torn off the fishing boats as a result of an unfortunate accident, they sink to the bottom, where they still fish and emit microplastics that are dangerous for animals and humans. Our unity and solidarity with the sea should be focused on making it a less polluted and friendlier living environment for its inhabitants and people using its resources. Extracting ghost nets from the depths of the sea requires skill, many years of practice and technical preparation. You don't have to be a professional, however, to contribute to a cleaner Baltic Sea! Everyone can help clean Polish beaches and dunes on their own, or get involved in civic education projects.

When properly treated, waste can become a useful raw material. The circular economy is based on the assumption that almost all waste should circulate in a closed circuit. The educational workshop will help the participants to look at the ghost nets littering the Baltic Sea from a fresh perspective. It is no longer rubbish, but a resistant and durable material with properties that make it an excellent starting product for the creation of many everyday objects.

Take part in an educational meeting that will familiarize you with the activities of the Ghost Diving Poland Association. You will learn what ghost nets are and where they occur. The lecturers will also introduce methods of cleaning the seabed and utilization of the obtained waste.

The event will be held at the permanent exhibition of the Experyment Science Center. Entry possible with a valid CNE ticket.

The open event will include:
• Presentation of diving equipment
• Learning to manipulate the equipment necessary to free animals from the net
• Experience of immersion (VR goggles) – an underwater journey from a diver's perspective – a volunteer
• Educational lecture (CNE stage) 15 – 20 minutes lecture
